Festive Cheer, Fellowship and Fun!
In Dulci Jubilo:
Lyme Bay Chorale’s Christmas Concert * Sunday 5th December *
4.pm St Michael's Church, Lyme Regis
Musical Director Alex Davies
Our forthcoming concert promises to bring a joyful start to Christmastide. Hugely popular, the Vivaldi Gloria provides a centrepiece for the concert together with Buxtehude’s Magnificat,( circa 1690) a delicate choral polyphony from continental Europe with influences that sprang from the beguiling tunefulness of street music and opera which permeated works written for the liturgy at that time.
Fabulous musicians are coming together for the concert: Chris Gradwell (a member of the London Symphony, Royal Philharmonic and National Philharmonic orchestras) saxaphone; Alison Davies with her saxophone group ‘Saxminster’ and Andrew Daldorph, conductor of Exeter Cathedral Chamber Choir and our guest accompanist. The choir and Saxminster will be performing Andrew’s jazz composition ‘People Prepare’, which was last performed at Exeter Cathedral in 2009 when it received a standing ovation!
Join us and soak up the festive cheer, fellowship and fun. Enjoy pieces by John Tavener, Samuel Scheidt and Andrew Carter, join the choir in traditional audience carols – and then devour a delicious afternoon tea. The proceeds from the concert will go to children’s hospice Julia’s House and the Lyme Regis Organ Fund.
Tickets are £10. Phone Hilary on 01297 445649 or email hilaryhighet@mac.com to reserve tickets .
Hope you can make it!
Best wishes,
